The TP-Link Tapo C420S2 battery assures 180 days of battery life. However, note that this is not the case as factors such as the traffic around the camera’s view, camera settings, and camera environment all affect the overall battery life.

Let’s see how to set up the camera.

How to set up the TP-Link Tapo C420S2 camera

When you receive the camera package, you will find two TP-Link Tapo C420S2 cameras, batteries, USB cables, D.C adapters, a hub, mounting brackets, mounting templates, screws, anchors, and a quick start guide.

The first major step in setting up the TP-Link Tapo C420S2 camera is charging the battery. This is very essential as it will go a long way in determining the overall performance of the battery afterwards. Charging the battery takes approximately 6 hours; all you have to do is take the D.C adapter of the camera (5 Volts Output) and plug it into the battery’s USB port.

When you are done charging the battery, simply insert it into the battery compartment of the camera, and close it by rotating the cover clockwise. To install the camera on a wall, take out the wall mounting template and paste it on the wall. It has three holes indicated, so drill three holes accordingly. Then insert three anchors in the holes, place the mounting bracket on the wall mounting template, insert three screws into the holes, then drive the screws in.

Next, take the camera and allow the mounting hole at the back of the camera to go into the mounting bracket by rotating the camera clockwise till it is fully threaded in.

Now move over to the hub and set it up. Plug the D.C adapter (9 Volts Output) into its D.C jack, plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the hub, and the other end into your router. You should then see a solid amber light on the hub. Then, open the TP-Link Tapo app or download it if you don’t already have it installed, click on the + sign to add a device, select Tapo H200 as this is the model of the hub, and follow the proceeding instructions.

Once this is completed, the next step is to pair the Tapo H200 hub with the camera. Again on the app, click on add, select TP-Link Tapo C420S2 (check the camera to see the status LED blinking red and green), then on the app select the Tapo H200 hub and follow the proceeding instructions, you will be required to insert an SD card before the setup completes, so have one ready.

When the setup completes, the next step is to pair the hub with the camera. To do this simply press the Sync button on the hub once. Then open the cover of the camera and press the Sync/Reset button once, pairing will take place and the status LED on the camera will show a solid green light on completion.
